Hello! We’re Alex and Sam.  Thank you for taking the time to read our story and learn more about us. 

We met online in 2012 and started dating shortly thereafter.  Alex recalls Sam including hidden messages in their getting-to-know-you chats that were basically asking him out.  We dated over the next few years while Alex was finishing up his degree, and he moved in with Sam after graduating. 

In 2015, Sam planned an elaborate anniversary date, which ended with a walk through the park near their apartment (in VERY cold weather, Alex might add).  Sam presented Alex with a book he had written that outlined every major moment of their relationship, right up until that very moment on the park bench (written in rhyming iambic pentameter and fully illustrated, Sam might add).  The book ended on a cliffhanger, with Sam proposing while Alex read the final pages.  Of course, Alex said “yes,” and the journey continued.

We moved into our first solo apartment together, planned our wedding, and married in 2017.  The plan has always been to achieve four steps after marriage – tenure, house, dog, and family growth.  Sam got tenure in 2020, we bought the house in 2021, our dog, River, was adopted in 2022.  There's only one thing left on that list, and as Sam’s colleagues can attest, he has been talking about it nonstop since he and Alex got married.  We cannot wait to share the second half of our autobiographies with each other, River, and a future child.
